For Whom The Bell Tolls

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell chose not to report to the team today by the mandated 4pm EST deadline that would have allowed him to play for the rest of the season. In failing to report, Bell forfeits any chance of playing for the rest of the season as well as $14.5 million dollars in salary.

Bell has held out since the beginning of the season due to a contract dispute with Steelers ownership. The All-Pro was unhappy with the franchise tag placed on him by the team which limited his options in negotiating a huge payday. In an attempt to leverage a big contract from the Steelers, the running back chose to miss the first two and half months of the season with the option to return by November 13th, the NFL’s deadline for player activation. It didn’t help Bell that Steelers rookie running back James Conner has been sensational in Bell’s place, putting up stats even better than those put up by Bell in 2017.

In the end, for Le’Veon Bell and the Steelers, today’s actions signaled the death knell for the superstar in Steel City.

Ring My Bell

Turning to sports, Pittsburgh Steelers running back holdout Le’Veon Bell was spotted in a downtown Pittsburgh LA Fitness center playing a pick-up game of basketball. That’s got to be going over well with Bell’s teammates in the Steelers locker room.

Oh, and how’s that number one overall fantasy pick of Bell doing for your team this year?

It’s NFL Kickoff Day! The season kicks off tonight with a game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles.

To the chagrin of the other professional football team in the state of Pennsylvania as well as fantasy football players everywhere, the Pittsburgh Steelers Le’Veon Bell is still holding out due to a contract dispute and will likely not play in the team’s opening game on Sunday. Being one of the very best running backs in the league, Bell is causing consternation in both the Steelers locker room as well as those who drafted him in their fantasy leagues.

Get Away From Da Choppas!

Two unexpected helicopters appeared over Lambeau Field last night as the preseason NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers got underway which sent police scrambling. With 11:53 left in the first quarter and Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers having just thrown a touchdown to Tight End Jimmy Graham, two U.S. Navy helicopters appeared over the stadium. Air traffic is typically routed away from the stadium during any scheduled games to prevent potential incidents. The unauthorized flyby had the Wisconsin state police hurriedly trying to find out what was going on. Further investigation discovered that the helicopters made an inadvertent side trip and the matter would continue to be looked into regarding the lapse of protocol.

These Terrible Times sources indicate that Brett Favre had hijacked one of the planes and was attempting to make another NFL comeback…

Cheesy, I know
