Big D

We generally don’t talk about the Thursday Night Football games in the NFL, but last night’s result was so surprising, it had to be mentioned.

The 10-1 New Orleans Saints, winners of 10 straight games, and who had been beating opponents by 20-30 points easily the past few weeks, went into Dallas to play the 6-5 Cowboys and proceeded to get their butts handed to them by the Cowboy defense, losing 13-10. New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees started the game 0 for 4 passing for the first time in his career and was pretty much contained the duration of the match. Very few saw this coming. Suddenly, the Dallas Cowboys have to be considered big time contenders come playoff time.

And now, running back Kareem Hunt of the Kansas City Chiefs, will re-enact how the Cowboys defense handled the Saints high flying offense:

When The Saints Go Marching In

Well, that didn’t last long.

The NFL’s New Orleans Saints, one of the hottest teams in the league, this week bolstered their receiving corps by signing free agent wide receiver Dez Bryant. Bryant, known for his excellent years with the Dallas Cowboys, was primed to join the team, but in yesterday’s practice, tore his Achilles and is out for the year.

Saints ownership is probably checking to see if the ink had actually dried on the contract.

Saints QB Drew Brees talks about the Dez Bryant acquisition:

Call Him The Brees.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees set the all time career passing yards record last night on Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins. Brees passed the record previously held by quarterback Peyton Manning with a 62 yard touchdown pass. The Saints immediately celebrated the accomplishment as Brees handed the football to a representative of the Canton Football Hall Of Fame and shared a moment with his family. The Saints went on to beat the Redskins 43-19.

**NOTE** – Starting tomorrow 10/10, this will become the Image Of The Day instead of Image Metaphor Of The Day. Let’s face it – sometimes the pictures are metaphors, sometimes they’re irony, and sometimes they don’t stand for anything. So, to use the proper nomenclature, we are dropping “Metaphor” from the title. Deal.
