10 years ago, on December 10th, 2008, the dramatic World War II era, Holocaust drama, “The Reader” starring Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes was released. It would be Winslet the Best Actress Academy Award that year.
The NASA Voyager 2 space probe which was launched in 1977 and was only supposed to last for 5 years has reached interstellar space. It is now more than 11 billion miles from Earth, the agency said Monday. This is the second time a human-made object has reached this part of space.
Voyager 2 is now NASA’s longest-running mission, with 41 years under its belt, and it continues to send data back to Earth.

It’s a rare thing to watch the New England Patriots get burned. It’s even more rare to see them blow a game on the final play. So while Pats fans can boast their many championships in recent years as consolation, at least the rest of us can savor this video for the short term!

Oh, and the college football Division I bowl season begins next weekend for those who want more NCAA action…
In today’s early NFL games, the New York Giants exploded against the Washington Redskins, routing them 40-16 in Washington DC. The Redskins have completely fallen apart after losing their starting quarterback Alex Smith to a season ending leg injury as well as their backup Colt McCoy. Meanwhile, the NY Giants have won 4 of their last 5 after starting the season 1-7.
In one of the biggest games of the day in relation to playoff posturing, the Kansas City Chiefs went to overtime with the Baltimore Ravens with the Chiefs ultimately emerging as victors in a 27-24 win. Also, the New England Patriots were stunned at the buzzer as the Miami Dolphins stole a 34-33 win from the defending AFC Champs. And in a big AFC South match-up, the Indianapolis Colts prevailed on the road 24-21 against the Houston Texans.

The Heisman Trophy for the best player in college football was awarded last night to Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray who beat out quarterback Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama and quarterback Dwayne Haskins of Ohio State. It is the second straight year that an Oklahoma Sooners quarterback won the coveted trophy as Baker Mayfield, currently the quarterback of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, won the hardware last year.
