So, apparently there was a big World Wrestling Entertainment event which took place this week entitled WWE Crown Jewel. The Pay-Per-View showcase was controversial as it was held in Saudi Arabia which is under a wee bit of scrutiny of late due to the murder of Arab journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan made his return to the WWE after being banned from the organization in 2015 for making racially charged statements. He made a brief cameo probably because Khashoggi was a huge fan of the “Real American”.
The main event was for a “World Cup Championship” belt which would go to the best wrestler, so of course, through the typical nonsense staged events, the title ended up in the hands of Smackdown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon, the son of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. Lame.
A parade of other superstars like Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Kane, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Braun Strowman and Dolph Ziggler pleased the Riyadh audience in typical melodramatic fashion.
Anyways, despite the calls to cancel the spectacle due to the Saudi government’s slaughter of a journalist at an embassy in Turkey, wrestling is big money overseas, so of course, big money won the day.
Cash is king in the kingdom and if you dropped money for the Pay-Per-View event, you’re part of the problem.
