The hit science-fiction sequel “Blade Runner 2049” starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford was released one year ago today on October 6th, 2017. The visually dazzling feature received critical acclaim and also won auteur cinematographer Roger Deakins his first Academy Award after having been nominated 13 times previously. It was a followup to the cult 1982 sci-fi film “Blade Runner” which starred Harrison Ford and was directed by Ridley Scott. Sort of a futuristic film noir, it concerned a detective hunting down rogue androids called replicants while also considering the social and moral implications of such actions. Blade Runner 2049 focused on a new generation of detective attempting to solve the murder of a woman which could potentially lead to an all out war between humans and replicants.

Smart, cerebral science-fiction done right…
