Let’s Play Like Perez #13

Forbes Magazine today named the Dallas Cowboys as the most valuable franchise in the NFL for the 12th straight year. The team is worth $5 billion dollars annually. The New England Patriots placed second and the New York Giants placed third on the list.

We all know the Dallas Cowboys are marketed as “America’s Team” but are they really? I mean technically, Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, presides over a private organization. The only publicly owned team in America is the Green Bay Packers. THEY should be America’s team. The Packers have won 13 league championships, the most in NFL history, with nine pre-Super Bowl NFL titles in addition to four Super Bowl victories. The Packers won the first two Super Bowls in 1967 and 1968 and were the only NFL team to defeat the American Football League (AFL) prior to the AFL–NFL merger. The Vince Lombardi Trophy is named after the Packers’ coach Lombardi, who guided them to their first two Super Bowls. Seems like a no brainer. By the people, for the people…
