9/15/18 – Image Metaphor Of The Day

It is the ten year anniversary of collapse of Lehman Brothers. In 2008, Lehman Brothers was the fourth largest investment bank in the United States behind Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch. On September 15, 2008, Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy which was the largest in history. It was a gut punch to the world financial system which put the economy into crisis. Once Lehman Brothers collapsed, other dominoes began to fall and various other banking institutions fell into ruin. Investors and home owners felt the sting as body blow upon body blow hit the proverbial torso. It would take some major government initiatives and bail-outs to keep the country (and the globe for that matter) from catastrophe.

The U.S. was drunk punch for a while but eventually recovered. Hopefully, a rematch will never be necessary…

(Yup, we know how to lay the metaphors on thick!)
