The Captain Calls It A Day
New York Mets superstar third baseman David Wright announced today what is effectively his retirement. Not having played since May of 2016, Wright has worked diligently to try to get himself back into playing shape, but after battling spinal stenosis and various other surgeries, has finally determined his body will never be in game shape again. In an emotional press conference, the team announced that Wright will be activated for the final homestand of the year on September 25th and will start at third base on September 29th against the Florida Marlins in what will be his farewell game.
We wish David Wright the best. A true fan favorite and one of the best players in New York Mets franchise history.
