Apparently, a local high school teacher was appointed by the Church of San Miguel de Estella in Navarre, Spain to restore a 16th century carved wood statue of Saint George, rather than enlisting a proper art expert. Unfortunately, the teacher’s restoration resulted in St. George turning into Tintin:
This is reminiscent of the 2012 fiasco where an elderly woman attempted to restore a fresco of Jesus:
Can someone please do us a favor and keep these art treasures out of the hands of amateurs?
